Easy Ways to Prevent Injury

The best injury at the gym is the one which didn’t happen. Athletic Republic Parkland knows just how easy it is for all athletes to prevent injuries, and has a post to share with tips which can help.

Warming Up

Getting straight into either strength training or cardio workouts without warming up your muscles is the easiest way to invite injury. During the day, muscles can lock up and become tight. Stretching gives your muscles a chance to unlock and become ready for your workout at a comfortable pace, which minimizes the risk of injury.

The Right Gear

You don’t need to wear the most expensive brands or the latest fashion, but you do have to wear appropriate gear. For example, running in shoes which weren’t designed for the activity can cause serious knee and ankle problems. Wearing pants which are too tight and prevent you from holding a correct squat position can cause back pain and injury. Whatever the task, be sure that your clothing is appropriate and that your body has full movement.

Recovery Time

It can be easy to think that your muscles start to heal as soon as you stop exercising and that they will be ready to go the next day. However, the reality is that your muscles need more time to rest and recover so that they can grow both in strength and size. If you don’t allow your muscles time to recover and keep exercising, it can cause a range of injuries, such as tears, strains, and sprains. The easiest way to prevent this type of injury is by planning your routine so that your muscle groups are never worked out over consecutive days.
